Hello 2 day work week? Bill Gates thinks so

Our take: Computers taking over the world and everything being automated is not a new idea. Going back decades, one can find books, movies, and thought leaders discussing how the rise of technology will one day lead to computers largely running the world.

It seems, according to one of the innovators and business leaders from the beginning of the tech explosion that we may not be far off from those days.

Bill Gates is predicting that in just 10 years, humans might just work two days out of the week—and it's all thanks to AI. At the current pace of innovation, the Microsoft co-founder predicts that humans will no longer be needed “for most things,” and so a rethinking of the workplace will soon be in order.

“What will jobs be like? Should we just work like 2 or 3 days a week?” the billionaire told Jimmy Fallon on The Tonight Show.

This is not the first time the billionaire alluded to a shortening of the workweek. In 2023, when ChatGPT was still in its infancy, Gates said society might “eventually” get to a scenario where working three days a week is the norm—and the world will have to figure out what to do with more leisure time. “If you zoom out, the purpose of life is not just to do jobs,” he told Trevor Noah’s “What Now?” podcast.

We are all for this innovation, but it does beg some questions. What do people do for money if a majority of current jobs are run by computers/AI? Who controls the AI systems and the money and productivity that flows from them? How does this impact 3rd world countries who have little to no access to this technology and these systems?

One thing is for sure, as Bob Dylan sang - The time, they are changing’….

Former MSNBC host says “America was never great”

Our take: Professional victims may figure out how to enrich themselves, but they NEVER bring any long term benefit to society or help move mankind forward. Remember that when you hear nonsense like this lady spewed on CNN this week.

Former MSNBC host Tiffany Cross argued that America "was never great" during an appearance on CNN on Tuesday.

The liberal journalist appeared on CNN as a guest to discuss the recent security breach where Jeffrey Goldberg, the editor-in-chief of The Atlantic magazine, was added to a Signal group chat with senior Trump officials discussing plans for an upcoming strike on Houthi rebels in Yemen.

Cross bashed President Donald Trump and his administration as "inept," arguing that the administration put national security at risk, before taking a shot at Trump's "Make America Great Again" slogan.

"They ran on this whole idea of this pseudo-patriotism, this aggressive, masculine patriotism, yet everything they're doing runs against ‘making America great,’" Cross said. "It was never ‘great,’ so I'm not going to say the ‘again’ part."

Cross doubled down on her statement after Republican guest Joe Borelli, former Minority Leader of the New York City Council, started to protest.

"I absolutely feel that way. I think if you had the history my people had in this country, then you might have a modicum of understanding and respect for that. America was never great for me," Cross continued.

She added that it was a "common understanding" that America was only "great" for certain people.

Whatever lady. As you sit on a stage with a bunch of other rich people and complain about stuff that never happened to you, done by people who have been dead for hundreds of years, forgive us if we completely dismiss your whining.

Slavery was awful. It happened hundres of years ago all over the world. Lots of bad stuff happened to people all over the world since the beginning of time. No one is disputing that, but it’s no ones responsibility to right the wrongs of the past.

Perhaps Ms. Cross can explain why she still lives in America if it is such a terrible country for her and her people. We can answer that. It’s because America is by far the best place for her and her people to thrive. She can take what she is selling somewhere else because we are not buying it.

Body of man who fell through ice recovered

Our take: Yikes. What a way to go. We have lived in super cold weather climates for about half our life, so we know lots of people who are very comfortable going out on frozen lakes, rivers, ponds, and other bodies of water. We have never shared their confidence.

When you are out on these frozen places, you can hear the ice beneath you shifting and cracking. Even when ice is a foot thick, there can be weak spots that are impossible to determine when you are on them.

This poor gentleman found that out the hard way. We are glad for his family they were able to recover his remains so they can properly lay him to rest. We will stay on land and take our chances there.

Tip of the day

One of the best gifts you can give yourself is personal growth.

It’s a constant need, or want, to grow as a person and upgrade your life skills – allowing yourself to follow that path can be sometimes scary, but almost always enlightening.

It’s a never-ending journey, and while that sounds intimidating, that’s the beauty of it; because it’s not a destination, you are continually expanding your horizons and bettering yourself.

Personal growth is the act of consistently growing and improving yourself, your skills, mindset, and life. Developing the skills and mindset towards personal development goals will also help reduce anger, stress, and frustration by creating a success mindset.
