The American population is aging out, creating a looming worker shortage

Our take:  The Baby Boomer generation is famous for both the timing of its birth and the number of babies born in the post-World War 2 baby boom. Many expected this birth rate to continue ad infinitum.

That turned out not to be the case. The birth rate in the US peaked in 2007 at around 4.3 million births. Last year it was 3.6 million. This decrease means there will be fewer working-age adults in the country for decades to come. This does not bode well for companies, the health care industry, or social programs like Social Security, Medicare, and Medicaid.

You can read the full article at the link attached, but the takeaway here is clear—we need young people to have a lot more sex and a lot more kids.

Menendez brothers up for parole after almost 30 years in prison

Our take: In the 1990s, the case of Lyle and Erik Menendez gained international notoriety. The brothers gunned down their wealthy parents using shotguns in their TV room. One famously reloaded at least once to pump another round into his mom.

Multiple trials eventually led to the conviction of both brothers to life sentences despite allegations of decades-long sexual abuse by their father, which was allegedly ignored by their mother.

Now, almost 30 years later, the brothers are preparing for a parole hearing. Time has been a friend to the brothers’ case. The allegations of sexual abuse are widely believed to be true, and many feel the brothers have served more than enough time to pay for their crimes.

Charlie Kirk tells men to pay for the meals and activities on dates

Our take: For clarity, we have not been on a date since George H.W. Bush was in the White House. Back then, it was understood that men paid for the date. Dinner, movies, putt-putt golf, whatever it was, men paid.

In today’s world, there are a lot of questions about how the finances are handled. Many young men say that they expect their date to pay for her share of things. Some women agree, and some women think this is a bridge too far.

Right-wing talking head Charlie Kirk has weighed in, and shockingly, we agree with him. Kirk says young men should pay for the date every time. Kirk says, “The money you save is not worth the honor you compromise.”

He is 100% right. Men—man up and pay for the date. Women—don’t be dirtbags and order expensive stuff. The point of a date is for you two to get to know each other. Focus on that and not on who is paying for what or how much you can get out of it.

Tip of the day

The key to success in life is to develop good habits. You are what you do. If you mindlessly scroll through social media feeds for hours on end, you’ll live a mindless life. If you choose work over life, you’ll likely achieve a lot of professional success. If you prioritize your family, you’ll likely have a lot of social success. If you aim to have a balance of work and play, you’ll likely find life to be quite meaningful. The actions you take every day create the path you end up on. So choose your habits wisely.
