Research study shows weight training may be better than running to control diabetes
Our take: If you get physical activity on a regular basis, keep doing it and don’t overthink it. Physical activity is good for you mentally and physically. That said, a new study shows that weight training may be better for managing diabetes and the physical conditions that lead to it than steady state cardio like running. Do what is best for you, but the article is worth a read.

Obesity rate in US is slowly dropping, much credit given to GLP1 drugs by some
Our take: Obesity rates in the US reached over 40% of adults in the past few decades. That rate is dropping now, but doctors cannot pinpoint any one thing that is driving the rates down. Genetics, environment, personal choices, and the rise of GLP-1 drugs are all discussed as drivers of the trend.
While genetics and environment are factors, controlling your weight is largely a function of what you eat. While physical activity is good for your physical and mental health, how much you weigh is most directly controlled by your caloric intake. Consume fewer calories than you burn over a long period of time, and your weight will go down. Consume more calories than you burn over a long period of time, and your weight will go up. Genetics, environment, and other factors pale in comparison. Focus on what you eat and how much of it you eat if you want to get to and maintain a healthy weight.

Britain tightens rules around immigration as immigrant population continues to surge
Our take: Britain has seen a huge surge in immigration over the past several decades. Their loose immigration policy in the name of politeness appears to be coming to an end as they continue to deal with what should have been obvious issues it has created. Housing, consumer prices, and politics have all radically changed due to the loose immigration policy, and it looks like Brits may have finally realized what is causing their issues.
Many asylum seekers will no longer enjoy government-provided housing and financial support. Asylum seekers will have to wait 20 years to apply for permanent residency, four times longer than the current 5 years. Britain will also consider forcing asylum seekers to return home once their country is considered safe.
Good for Britain. Too many people cannot do math. The easiest way to make this make sense is to compare it to the street you live on. If 25% of the families on your street cannot pay their bills, and you are expected to pay their bills for them for years, you would run out of money and ruin your and your family's lives through no fault of your own.
Same thing here. It’s not hard to figure out. We can’t help everyone in the world, or we quickly won’t be able to help anyone. It’s up to each country to take care of their citizens. We need to hold the bad actors accountable to do their job, not push it onto other countries.

Tip of the day for learning not to care what other people think about you
Focus on living your best life
You don’t have a lot of time on this planet. Best case scenario, you’ll live into the low 100’s. Even if you do, you won’t have all of my faculties and abilities in your later years. Also worth remembering is that if you’re like most people, you won’t have financial freedom until you’re well into your 20’s or 30’s.
That should terrify you into not wasting any time modifying your life based on the opinions of people who won’t add anything to your life but stress.
Of course, this fear is a good thing. This fear should motivate you to focus all of your time and energy on what matters.
Other people’s opinions of your life don’t matter. If someone doesn’t pay you, lay you, or have the power to put you behind bars, then it doesn’t matter what they think.
I can’t tell you exactly what to do, but I know that if you stick to the following four ideas for how you live, you won’t care what other people think:
Living a disciplined and healthy life
Doing fulfilling and meaningful work
Building relationships with people you actually like
Acting based on your core values and beliefs
If you keep in mind that you’ll die and live true to these principles, it’s impossible to get caught up in thoughts from others who don’t concern you.
