Fired reporter claims journalists are not supposed to be objective

Our take: The media in America has served a critical role since the inception of the country. Freedom of speech and freedom of the press are enshrined in the First Amendment of the Constitution because they are paramount to the success of the country. Media (press/newspapers at the time) were counted on to report the facts, hold powerful people accountable, and keep citizens informed about what was happening in the country. Opinion pieces were clearly identified as such, and articles were expected to either report the facts or be transparent about the slant or bias they were taking.

Fast forward to the current day, and the media sees its role differently now. Terry Moran was a correspondent for ABC News until last week, when he was suspended and then had his contract not renewed for writing X posts that were critical of President Trump and White House Deputy Chief of Staff Stephen Miller, calling them both “world-class haters.” ABC said it was a clear violation of their standards that expect correspondents to maintain objectivity on the subjects they report on.

Moran is making the rounds now on podcasts and other forms of media, claiming the media has no duty to objectivity. He claims that his rights as a citizen don’t stop because of his job, and he only needs to be “fair and accurate.”

We disagree with Moran wholeheartedly. While he has a right to express his opinions as a citizen, he has a responsibility as a professional to remain objective and not report on the world as he sees it, but on the world as it actually is. Good call by ABC here. Moran can start his own podcast and share his views and see how many people want to hear his take without the platform he enjoyed from the legacy media conglomerate that previously employed him.

A columnist calls out the media for intentionally lying to people

Our take: It has been obvious to anyone with common sense that the mainstream media has not been objective for some time. This article does a good job of laying out the facts that demonstrate this.

It lays out lie after lie (from both sides of the aisle) that the media has foisted upon the American public. From “mostly peaceful protests” to “there are no riots or violence” to “disinformation is stoking an already tense situation”.

The article is worth a read so you can see the truth laid out in a straightforward fashion. Everyone should take any news they read/see/hear from any source with a huge grain of salt.

Fox News shuts off drunk guest on show to talk about military parade

Our take: This is a funny story. Fox invited a guest on who got super drunk before her appearance. She was so drunk, Fox had to cut her off. It made us laugh.
