Aging politicians are killing our democracy.
Our take: In the latest example of aging politicians making a mockery of our government, 81-year-old Congresswoman Kay Granger has been living in an assisted living home for months. She gave up her seat as chairperson of the House Appropriations Committee in May and has not been in attendance for a vote in the house since July of this year. She did not run for re-election in 2024 and has been absent from public view for months.
Granger is the latest example of a politician staying too long at the fair. Recent reports confirmed what everyone already knew—President Biden was showing signs of physical and mental decline since he first took office. Mitch McConnell froze in several press conferences in the past few months. Before her death, Dianne Feinstein was clearly suffering from some form of mental decline as she continued to serve as the senior senator from California. These are just the examples we can think of off the top of our heads.
We need some type of rule or law that allows us to remove incapacitated people from office. The 25th Amendment applies specifically to the Executive Branch, but no such amendment or process exists in the Legislative Branch. There have been enough recent examples that show it is and will continue to be a problem. To allow hundreds of thousands of citizens to be disenfranchised because their elected representative can no longer do the job is not something we can tolerate.

Entitled WNBA brat goes public with her hypocrisy
Our take: Phoenix Mercury guard is unhappy with Elon Musk. Who is Natasha Cloud, you ask? The article lists her as a “WNBA star." We looked her stats up, as we had never heard of her before this article. It turns out she is a guard who shoots below 40% from the field and averages less than 10 points per game for her career. We think the term star may be a bit of an overreach.
Either way, she had some choice words about Musk on X. Last week, Musk was one of many citizens who publicly objected to the pork-filled bill that was set to pass the House to extend current government funding levels until March 2025. The goal was to avoid a government shutdown until the new congress is sworn in in January. True to form, congress tried to pack the almost 1,500 page bill with a bunch of other needless spending items, such as raises for house members, health care changes, and funding to revitalize RFK Stadium in Washington DC. After the public outrage, some Republican members changed their vote and shot down the bill, forcing the house members to go back to the table and try again, which they did.
Not good enough for Ms. Cloud. She took to X and tweeted: "So when y’all gone, tell Elon to go back to Africa? Im so glad ALL these billionaires have no idea how the 3 branches of government work... or how a bill gets passed into law. Shoutout to the 38 Republicans who shot the bill down in the House while being threatened & blackmailed."
It seems to us that both the “billionaires” and the members of the House know exactly how the 3 branches of government work. The house makes laws. For a bill to pass, there needs to be more “yes” votes than “no” votes. This bill failed that test and did not pass. Pretty straightforward.
We find the sense of entitlement here to be rich. Ms. Cloud makes $200,000 per year to play in a league that has lost hundreds of millions of dollars the past 25 years. The WNBA is kept alive by continued investment from the NBA. They finally have a great draw for the league in Indiana Fever guard Caitlin Clark, who happens to be white. She has been the target of physical and verbal attacks from multiple people affiliated with the WNBA, many times because she is white.
It is unbelievable Ms. Cloud would try to play the race card here. Her league is actively involved in a racial attack on one of its most popular players. She is entitled to share her opinion. And we are entitled to think she is a hypocritical whiner that can’t shoot a basketball very well.

Mark Cuban says everyone should try college.
Our take: We are not huge Mark Cuban fans. With that said, we think his take on college here is spot on. In an interview Monday, Cuban said: "Going to school isn't about your major—at least not in the first two years," he says. "It's about learning how to learn, and it's about getting excited to learn and exposing yourself to all kinds of different people [and] ideas." When asked what people should do if they are worried about costs, he replied, “Go to a cheap college.” Enough said—solid advice here.

TIP OF THE DAY
The single best habit you can practice to improve your mental health is to practice gratitude. Every day, write down 3 things you are grateful for in a journal or diary. Do this every day for 30 days, and you will be shocked at how much happier you are.
QUOTE OF THE DAY
"Those who are not grateful soon begin to complain of everything." — Thomas Merton
