Florida Council-member mocks Charlie Kirk's death, then tries to tell us “the post does not reflect his personal values”

Our take: Florida Councilman Steve Cody posted that Charlie Kirk was a “fitting sacrifice to our lords – Smith & Wesson.” Then, when he was rightly called out for his disgusting post, he said it does not reflect “his personal values and deeply held beliefs.”

Bullshit. This guy is a father, grandfather, and elected official, not some kid throwing a tantrum because he didn’t get ice cream after dinner. He knew what he was doing, and this statement 100% reflects his “personal values.” Fuck this guy.

Husband murders wife with a tomahawk after less than a year of marriage

Our take: After already filing for divorce, Frank Bright, 38, decided he couldn’t wait for that to become final. Instead, he murdered his wife using a tomahawk to bash her in the face, neck, and back of her head. Good lord. Could the pork chops really have been that bad?

Bright’s own mother had filed a temporary restraining order against him earlier this year after he allegedly pulled a gun on his mother and her husband, and hit his mother in the head with the gun. The guy is consistent, that’s for sure. Hopefully, he is locked up and gets the mental help he clearly needs.

Congress-members who cried racism when Daniel Penny was acquitted were silent after a Ukrainian woman was murdered on a train by a Black man

Our take: Daniel Penny is white. Jordan Neely was Black. Penny is a former Marine. Neely was a homeless man with a long history of crimes and mental illness. When Neely threatened passengers on a subway car, Penny subdued him. Neely died in the process. Penny was brought up on charges of criminal negligent homicide for his good Samaritanism but was acquitted of any charges. Democrat members of Congress, including AOC, Maxine Waters, Ayanna Pressley, and LaMonica McIver, cried racism, vilifying Penny and lionizing Neely as an innocent victim.

Fast forward to the current day. After the brutal murder of 23-year-old Ukrainian immigrant Iryna Zarutska by career criminal Decarlos Brown, these Congressmembers have been silent, with some saying we should not be politicizing a terrible event like this.

Right. Our point here is not to call out these obvious race-hustling charlatans. It is to make sure you, the readers, think critically about situations and not fall for the race-baiting bullshit peddled by these idiots.

Both situations were tragic, but one was clearly an act of public service that ended in the loss of life, and one was a cold-blooded murder. And we do not think race played a role in either situation.

Brown’s own mother asked for help for her son multiple times, knowing he was too violent and unstable to either live in her home or be out in the public at large. This was a man who clearly had mental issues (as did Neely for that matter) and could not get help from those who were elected to provide that help. Then they tried to use the situation for political gain. Make sure you pay attention and think critically, especially when someone is telling you how you should think or feel.

Tip of the day for changing habits

 Celebrate Your Wins

Celebrate your wins as you work on addiction recovery. Acknowledge when you get it right and celebrate those moments. Often when we’re in the middle of a tough struggle, we can’t help but focus on all the things that aren’t going well—the cravings, the urges, the times where we just want to give up.

But if we take a step back and look at our lives from a different perspective, we can see how far we’ve come and how much progress we’ve made. And that positivity will help us stay motivated when things get tough again!

ACTION ITEM: Make sure you take a moment to celebrate a win and do something special for yourself: buy yourself some flowers, eat at your favorite restaurant, or watch your favorite movie—whatever it takes for your mind and body to feel rejuvenated after another day of fighting addiction.

It’s a very important part of recovery!

And make sure you include your accountability partner too. They want to celebrate your wins as much as you do!
