University of Tennessee women’s basketball player arrested for aggravated burglary, domestic abuse
Our take: University of Tennessee women’s basketball player Ruby Whitehorn was arrested on charges of aggravated burglary and domestic abuse in Knox County.
It is alleged Whitehorn got into a physical altercation with another woman, then kicked in the door to her house and bathroom while trying to retrieve items Whitehorn claimed had been stolen by the victim.
Maybe women’s basketball really is catching up to the men’s game…

Minnesota non-profit raided by Feds, founder recently found guilty of fraud for over $250 million
Our take: Government programs are almost always well intentioned, and almost always have outcomes different than what was intended. Case in point, a program in Minnesota called Feeding the Future that was designed to provide meals to hungry children has been bilked for hundreds of millions of dollars by several people in leadership positions over several years.
The non-profits were supposed to provide meals to kids using government funds. Instead, it is alleged they non-profits set up a fraudulent scheme to bill for meals never provided and pocket the money.
Good lord – who steals money that is supposed to be feeding hungry kids? Hopefully if these people are convicted and serve time, they wind up rooming with someone who has uncontrollable flatulence and Tourette’s.

Utah man runs down kid who ding-dong-ditched his house, slaps and punches him
Our take: Ringing a doorbell and running away is a decades old prank that many teenagers have done. Apparently, they don’t tolerate that stuff in Utah.
A man whose house was targeted jumped on a bike, tracked down one of the kids involved, slapped the 12-year-old 3 times, and allegedly punched him in the stomach. The man was arrested the day after the incident, at which time he admitted to slapping the boy but denied punching him.
We bet this guy thought they were Mormons coming to talk to him about joining LDS and he just snapped. It’s probably a valid defense anywhere other than Utah…

Tip of the day – improving communication
Sometimes it's better to pick up the phone. If you find that you have a lot to say, consider calling the person instead of sending an email. Email is great, but sometimes it is easier to communicate what you have to say verbally.
Quote of the Day
Timid men prefer the calm of despotism to the tempestuous sea of liberty. – Thomas Jefferson
