Harrisburg says it will not cooperate with ICE in the proposed new legislation

Our take: Maybe I am thinking about this too simplistically. If you know someone stole from a store, and the police ask you if you knew, and you say no, isn’t that a crime? Obstruction? Accessory after the fact? Something?

Federal immigration law is law. We don’t get to decide (and politicians don’t either) which laws we follow and which laws we ignore. How would it work if I said I won’t “cooperate” with the IRS by paying my taxes? I’m pretty sure I would get a nice new orange outfit and three hots and a cot for a while. It makes zero sense to me how local politicians can flout federal law without repercussion. If you understand, I would appreciate it if you could explain it to me.

More fraud convictions in the Feeding Our Future debacle in Minnesota

Our take:  Another accused scammer has pleaded guilty to stealing more than a million dollars through the Feeding Our Future scam in Minnesota. 35-year-old Najmo Ahmed admitted to falsifying records to scam taxpayer money out of the program. Ahmed signed false meal count sheets claiming to have served 3,250 children twice a day for one week in 2020.

This is truly unbelievable. As someone who has been in the food business, both grocery and foodservice, for over 30 years, this fraud should have been easy for anyone with a brain to spot. Pushing over 6,000 meals out of a facility in one day requires a commercial-grade setup. An elementary school serves around 500 kids a day, and it requires a commercial kitchen. Multiply that by 12!!! This place was a deli in Minneapolis.

Anyone responsible for governing this program in Minnesota should be fired and not allowed to be responsible for publicly funded programs again. This is at best gross negligence on their part. It’s hard to believe they were not involved in the scam, but we will reserve judgement until these investigations play out.

I don’t know about you, but I don’t mind paying taxes for things that make sense, but I have a big problem with my taxes being as high as they are when we see example after example of public sector politicians and bureaucrats literally giving taxpayers the finger.

This is a great article on what is and is not covered by the First Amendment

Our take: This article does a great job of explaining what is and is not protected by the First Amendment. With all the turmoil in our country over the past several years, it has become painfully obvious that most Americans do not understand that the 5 rights guaranteed by the First Amendment are not boundless. I highly suggest you read the article.
