Mamdani’s mother says, “he is not American at all” in a 2013 interview

Our take: Zohran Mamdani is likely to be the next mayor of New York. His mother said in a 2013 interview with The Hindustan Times that her son “is a total desi. Completely. We are not firangs at all.” A “Desi” is a person of South Asian descent—usually from India, Pakistan, or Bangladesh. A “Firang” is an Indian derogatory term for foreigners, particularly white or Western people. She finished by saying, “He is very much us. He is not American at all.” 

This recalls the line from Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory. To teach the entitled young boy a lesson, Willy Wonka says, “Slugworth wants a gobstopper; Slugworth gets a gobstopper.”

Despite warning the kid multiple times it would not work out well for him. New Yorkers are knowingly going to elect a socialist who does not consider himself an American. The return of 1970s New York, where burned-out blocks and large tracts of vacant buildings are not far behind. Income-tax-free Florida is about to get a whole bunch of high-income residents. 

New study exposes widespread corruption driving America’s homeless crisis

Our take: If you are like most people, you have wondered why there has been an explosion in homelessness in the United States over the past 25 years. A new study provides some possible answers. It shows that billions of dollars earmarked to deal with the homeless have been diverted to fund radical activism and anti-American agendas, betraying both the taxpayers on the hook for the bill and the homeless the funds were meant to help.

The report shows how a vast network of nonprofits has been formed to attract funding for a problem they are incentivized to keep going so they can qualify for more funding. You don’t have much of an incentive to end homelessness when your livelihood depends on having homeless people who need help to attract more government funding.

This is a classic case of government overreach leading to rampant fraud and abuse. The next government program that works efficiently and as intended will be the first one we know of. It’s hard to understand why more people cannot see how poorly the federal government allocates resources. The article is worth the 5 or so minutes it would take you to read.

Don Lemon says Megyn Kelly looks like a transgender person, angering actual transgender people

Our take: Don Lemon used to be a big name on CNN. He was unceremoniously let go after over 15 years with the network. One of the reasons was his treatment of women. It looks like Don has not learned his lesson.

On his own podcast, his co-hosts asked him if Megyn Kelly looks “chopped,” which is apparently a slang term for ugly. Lemon opined, “She’s chopped. I don’t know, the whole Make America Great Again look—it’s too much. I think she looks transgender.”

Oops. The transgender community did not take kindly to Lemon using the term to try and insult Kelly. It turns out when you tell the truth, people will learn if you have been full of shit for the past few decades. Our suggestion to Lemon is to treat every microphone or camera like a hissing cobra and stay as far away from it as possible. He doesn’t seem to have the judgement or temperament to make a living in the world of media, social or otherwise.

Be happy with yourself & confident 

This is just something that’s good to do for yourself. Be happy with who you are, even your flaws. If you are, you can be confident that you’re good enough when you meet someone else. People generally don’t respect someone who is constantly harsh on themselves. How can you learn to be happy with yourself? That’s a whole other post, but in general, become aware of any tendency to be harsh and critical of yourself, and don’t let yourself stew in those kinds of thoughts. Start to see the good in yourself, the genuine heart and caring nature, and let that be the story you tell yourself about yourself.
