Trump's team circles the wagons after including a reporter in a private Signal group discussing attack plans
Our take: Many a movie or sit com has relied on a series of events to that lead up to an embarrassing scene for the characters that normally looks much worse than it is. That appears to be the case with this story.
While it is hard to fathom how careless and irresponsible someone would need to be to include a reporter in a private messaging group between the highest ranking members of our government and military, that is exactly what happened here.
The Atlantic magazine published Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth's messages to a group chat detailing the times and weapons used to strike Houthi targets in Yemen, as the fallout deepened over Trump administration officials using the encrypted chat app Signal to discuss classified war plans.
In a new article published Wednesday morning, Jeffrey Goldberg, the magazine's editor-in-chief, posted pictures of messages Hegseth sent the chat – which included President Donald Trump's highest-level national security officials – listing the planned launch times of F-18s and Tomahawks. Goldberg discovered the chat in mid-March when Mike Waltz, Trump's top national security advisor, accidentally added him.
There is no good way to spin this. it’s a major fuck up. Not only did they include a reporter in the chat, but a reporter who is hostile to the administration.
This is just like when Uncle Billy leaves all the money for Bailey Savings and loan for Mr. Potter to find in the movie “It’s a Wonderful Life.” Unfortunately for the Trump team, there is no guardian angel coming to answer their prayers.
There is only one way to move past this. Someone needs to take the blame, tax the axe and get fired, and move on. Until that happens, get used to seeing this story splashed on the front of every Trump hating media outlet.

Homeless squatters overrun abandoned RV parking lot in California
Our take: One of the major themes voters expressed in the 2024 election was that crime and lawlessness has gotten out of control across the country. The lack of law enforcement by government across the country led to a groundswell at the polls, sweeping out many incumbents whose soft on crime policies led to the surge in chaos.
Look no further than this RV parking lot in a tony area of California. No one is paying attention to the area so homeless squatters have taken it over and turned into a dystopian hellscape that residents have to deal with every day.
The lot, which carries 130 campers worth $6.5 million, has become a crime-ridden homeless encampment over the past two years after a private party who bought the RVs abandoned the area, Fox 11 Los Angeles reported.
Videos of the scene show the parking lot riddled with massive piles of trash and one of the campers engulfed in flames.
Those who work and live nearby told the station that fires are a frequent occurrence at the lot, and that rampant crime, including robberies, has since plagued the surrounding area.
Millions of dollars in goods were stolen from a train that runs behind the property, according to the local outlet.
Nissan employees who said they use part of the parking lot for inventory overflow also indicated that the homeless often steal new car tires and gas from the tanks, Fox 11 LA reported.
Welcome to sunny California! Last we checked, squatting on property that is not yours, stealing or destroying millions of dollars of property, and lighting things on fire were all illegal. Unless your’re homeless in California that is, where it appears anything goes.
This is why people are leaving states run for decades by Democrats like California, New York, and Oregon, all of which are set to lose seats in the House based on the latest census. They are moving to states run by Republicans like Florida, Texas, and Utah, all of which are set to gain seats in the house.
It’s hard to believe that those who want to hang onto power cannot directly tie their lack of popularity. People want to know they can walk to their cars without being assaulted. It’s a very low bar to clear to meet these expectations.

VA Secretary shuts up smug CNN reporter with a dose of her own medicine
Our take: We include this story because we really dislike Kaitlan Collins as a reporter. She may be a very good person and a nice lady in her private life. As a reporter, she comes across as condescending, smug, and self-righteous. It is satisfying to see someone put her in her place.
U.S. Secretary of Veterans Affairs Doug Collins turned the tables on CNN host Kaitlan Collins during an interview, Wednesday, and began asking questions about a $5 million defamation case the network settled with a Navy veteran in January.
During the interview, Collins repeatedly asked the secretary for his thoughts on the recent Trump administration war plan group chat national security leak, which he dodged.
Collins finally snapped after he was asked a third time about the national security leak.
“Well, Kaitlan, since you undoubtedly don’t want to talk about the VA, I have a question as VA secretary,” he shot back, adding: I want to ask you because I’ve been curious about this, because my job is to take care of veterans, and I would like to know why CNN is hostile to veterans, especially one in Florida where you just had a $5 million defamation suit taking offense at a veteran who is trying to help people. In fact, one of your employees actually said, “We’re going to nail him.” I have a question for you, Kaitlan. Is that employee still employed? Are you really concerned about veterans? So if we don’t want to talk about veterans now, you want to talk about everything else, I’d like to hear from CNN as the veteran cabinet secretary why CNN seems to have a problem with veterans.
Collins replied, “Well, Mr. Secretary, respectfully, my question was about–” before her guest interrupted, “Answer my question, Kaitlan… What you want to do is talk about a subject I’ve already answered?”
We love it! This guy had nothing to do with the Signal issue she was asking about, yet she wanted her soundbite of looking tough and beating up a Trump official over the issue. When he gives her the same treatment, she refuses to engage.
If anyone at CNN was paying attention, they would get this woman off the air. She drives away far more viewers than she brings in.

According to a study conducted by the Mental Health Foundation, going for a walk was the favorite way for UK adults to cope with stress during the pandemic in 2020.
Research has shown that spending time in nature, or engaging in activities like “forest bathing,” as practiced in Japan, can significantly improve mental health.
